“The two signings have come into the group, it’s been ideal for them because they get to know the team very well,” he said. “After seeing them this week, I think they’ll be very good additions to the squad, hopefully, we’re not finished in that department either.

“Of course, the supporters will get to see them very shortly. You can tell straight away that they’ll add that little bit of quality.

“There’s nothing like a quality footballer when he comes along. The two of them know the division inside out, they’re both at a great age.

“They were our preliminary targets of what was available, certainly in the Bosman market, and I’m sure there’ll be a big asset to the club.

“I’ve been delighted with their attitude, that’s been spot on. Their fitness levels are good, it’s up to me to get the best out of them, pick the right team and get us ready for the challenges ahead.

Optimism

It is a very interesting time at the Hawthorns this season. Bruce has been landed to make sure that the Baggies return to the English top-flight where they used to be a competitive side under Tony Pulis back in the days.

Bruce have a proven record when it comes to helping the clubs in getting promoted and this time, the West Brom fans will be hoping to see a similar result as well.

On paper at least, it looks like the signings and the squad development is going as per the plans.

Both Swift and Wallace are fantastic additions, especially on a free, and will give their squad a boost going into next season.

Swift was outstanding for Reading and contributed to 18 goals in the championship, which includes 12 assists. [Transfermarkt].

On the other hand, Wallace arrives at the club after having experience of playing 228 matches in the Championship, scoring 37 times and providing 40 assists in the process [Transfermarkt].
