Preston ready move to sign West Brom forward Callum Robinson on loan

West Brom forward Callum Robinson is being lined up for a return to former club Preston North End, according to the Express and Star.

The Irish international first joined the Baggies in 2020 and has gone on to make 89 appearances for the club scoring 17 goals and providing 17 assists during that time.

However, this new report from the Express and Star claims that his former club are mulling over a potential loan deal for the winger.

The report said: “Preston North End are understood to be considering a move for Albion’s Callum Robinson that would see the forward return to the club on loan.

“Following a disappointing campaign last year, Albion are willing to listen to offers for a number players and Robinson is understood to be one of the players the Baggies are willing to let go.

“But while they are likely to prefer a permanent transfer, they may have to accept a loan deal to get him off the wage bill for a year.”

Third stint at Deepdale for Robinson?

If this move does materialise, it would be Robinson’s third stint with the Lilywhites.

During his last two spells at the club, Robinson amassed 160 appearances, scoring 41 goals and providing 21 assists during his time there.

West Brom

At Preston, he averaged a goal or assist every 2.5 games, and that tally has dropped at West Brom as he currently averages a goal or assist every 3.1 games at the Hawthorns.

He is coming off the back of a mixed season where despite putting up good numbers with a respectable seven goals and nine assists, (a goal or assist every 2.7 games) the Baggies finished in 10th position, eight points off a play-off spot.

Steve Bruce has reportedly named Robinson as a player the club should be looking to offload [Express & Star] and if so, a move back to Preston could be exactly what his career needs to spark back into life.

In other West Brom news, a former Albion star has been training with the club.
