Signing Dwight Gayle is exactly the push West Brom need for next season

West Brom are interested in signing Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle in the ongoing transfer window, according to the Northern Echo.

Despite signing two players on free transfers, the Baggies manager Steve Bruce is looking to add to the firepower in the final third and it looks like the former Crystal Palace striker could be that man.

Gayle has had the experience of working with the current West Brom boss during his time with the Magpies.

However, it is believed that West Brom will face competition from a number of clubs for the signing of the veteran striker.

Bruce has a huge job as he aims to bring West Brom back to the English top-flight competition—the Premier League.

Even though the transfer window has been great so far for the former Newcastle manager, he would definitely need some key additions in the attacking department after difficulties in the previous campaign.

The signing of Gayle could be an ideal one in that regard because he knows what it takes to play under the manager and he has an immaculate record of scoring goals in the Championship.

Not only that, but Gayle also has experience of playing at the Hawthorns which would mean that it will be easier for him to hit the ground running.

During his loan period with the Baggies in the 2018-19 season, the 32-year-old scored 23 times and provided eight assists in the Championship [Transfermarkt].

It was only the second time in his career that Gayle managed to score 20 or more goals in a single season.

We’re hoping that the club can convince him to come and that he powers the Baggies back into the Premier League.
