West Brom hold talks for Dwight Gayle return, no deal with Newcastle United
West Brom are in talks with Newcastle United for striker Dwight Gayle, but are yet to find a financial package to make a deal according to the Northern Echo.
Gayle is set to leave St James’ Park after struggling to be part of the first-team squad in recent years, and Steve Bruce is keen on a reunion with the 32-year-old forward.
The Baggies, along with Middlesbrough and Watford have already been in contact with the Magpies about a deal but so far there is no agreement with the club between the clubs or the with the player.

According to the report [July 8], talks remain ongoing and Gayle is currently training away with the first-team squad as he looks to seal a transfer away from the club.
Here we go again
Is there ever a transfer window that goes by where Gayle isn’t linked with a return to The Hawthorns?
Ever since his initial spell with us back in the 2018/19 season it’s become a habit to include us in any article that features his name, despite the fact the squad has moved on in that department.
Daryl Dike will undoubtedly be first-choice in attack this season and Bruce has also already confirmed that he sees Karlan Grant as a striker rather than a winger.

Add Kenneth Zahore to the picture too, with Bruce confirming he’s likely to be part of the squad going forward, and there isn’t a need for a 32-year-old who has made just 29 appearances in the last two years.
Should he arrive he’ll bring a good level of talent and competition, but it is certainly not a deal that the Baggies should be prioritising over other positions this summer.
