West Brom: Cardiff City named as club to sign Cedric Kipre – Joseph Masi
Cardiff City appear set to sign West Brom defender Cedric Kipre on loan for the 2022-23 season, according to Express and Star journalist Joseph Masi.
The Ivorian was rarely seen at The Hawthorns last season once Steve Bruce took charge of the Baggies and the 25-year-old is therefore among those most likely to leave the club in the manager’s big summer overhaul.
Bruce has already confirmed that Kipre is set to leave the club but he wouldn’t express exactly where that would be so Masi has shed some light on the situation.
“Speaking after last night’s win at Northampton, Steve Bruce confirmed Cedric Kipre is close to leaving Albion,” Masi shared via his personal Twitter account.
“The boss wouldn’t say where he is going, just that it’s a club in Wales! I understand it to be Cardiff with the defender joining them on a season-long loan.”

Giving a player to a divisional rival is usually not a good thing but this might be a very good move from Bruce and West Brom without them even realising it.
Their main intentions were probably to make some room in the wage budget but in doing so, they have added further strength to a team that can frustrate our promotion contenders while not being able to play against us.
Kipre could yet earn us a promotion if he becomes the sturdy rock that holds the Bluebirds’ defence together when the bigger teams try to barge their way through in the Welsh capital.
We have the centre-halves necessary at The Hawthorns already to suggest that the Ivorian was never getting a game with Semi Ajayi, Dara O’Shea, Kyle Bartley and young Caleb Taylor ahead of him in the pecking order.
Put it this way, his absence will not be missed next season if he does head for Cardiff.
