John Swift remains optimistic of West Brom promotion chances despite difficult last season
Midfielder John Swift believes that a poor campaign in 2021-22 will not cast a shadow on West Brom in their upcoming season.
The 27-year-old joined the Baggies on a free from Reading after his contract at the Select Car Leasing Stadium expired on June 30.
Swift was quoted in a report by Express & Star where he stated that he joined the club believing that last season was just a one-off.

“I don’t think last season shows what this club is about or what its future looks like,” the former Reading man said. “In my first season at Reading we finished third, in my second season we finished 17th.
“It’s such a rollercoaster of a league and I think the players at the club, the manager, the staff – they shouldn’t be finishing 10th in the league – hopefully we can put that right.
“When you look at the history of the club and the manager, he has proven he can take teams to the Premier League. The team itself, the players in the team – there is so much quality and so much depth.”
Swift is a dynamic midfielder, known for his immense quality on the ball and brilliant passing. He has the tendency to find pockets of space within the middle of the park and supply passes to his attackers.
Even though he prefers to play as an attacking midfielder, the former Reading man can also play as a central midfielder.

His ability to show quality on the ball makes him a dynamic midfielder. However, he tends to play behind the striker, being responsible for all the creativity.
West Brom need such midfielders within their team after a somewhat disappointing campaign last season where they struggled in the final third.
That was the primary reason why despite being solid defensively, the Baggies finished in the 10th spot in the league, eight points behind sixth-placed Luton Town.
With players like Swift in the ranks, West Brom fans can definitely remain hopeful of getting the promotion this time around.
