Okay Yokuslu passes West Brom medical, work permit holds up deal – Fabrizio Romano
Okay Yokuslu has passed a medical at West Brom ahead of returning to The Hawthorns on a permanent basis, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Sunday (17 July), the Guardian journalist reported that Yokuslu, 28, has signed his contract with the Baggies after terminating his deal with Celta Vigo earlier in the summer.
It is understood that before the deal is made official, the Turkey international will have to obtain a work permit in order for him to complete his return to English football.
Here we go
There shouldn’t be any issues with Yokuslu getting a work permit.
You rarely hear of players failing to get international clearance to move to new clubs because in most cases, club chiefs will know beforehand whether a work permit is obtainable.
It all comes down to international caps and senior appearances and Yokuslu should pass with flying colours – especially given the fact he was playing in the UK not too long ago after Sam Allardyce had a moan about Brexit lowering the size of the pool of players he could sign [Sky Sports].
Weeks after that rant in January 2021, Yokuslu joined Albion on loan from Celta Vigo and really endeared himself towards supporters with his attitude, work rate and level of performance.
It was clear that Yokuslu was an upgrade on the likes of Jake Livermore and Romaine Sawyers in the Premier League but unfortunately, he couldn’t stop the Baggies from being relegated to the Championship.

He struggled for game-time again at Celta last season and was loaned out to Getafe, where he mainly played as a centre-back.
It remains to be seen whether Steve Bruce sees Yokuslu as a defender or defensive midfielder.
Either way, despite concerns about his fitness, it’s nice to see a half-decent loanee return to The Hawthorns to have a second stab at success in the Black Country.
