The Baggies are closing in on the signing of Okay Yokuslu who is now a free agent after the conclusion of his spell at Celta Vigo.

“We are still trying our best. We are still hopeful otherwise I wouldn’t have gone public with it,” he said.

“But where it sits, we’ll just have to be patient for a little bit longer. My job is to never be finished and to keep knocking on the door to improve the quality,

“I believe the big ones, the real big clubs of our country are all on tour. They are all taking their young ones (who are likely to be available for loan) with them so I still think there is a bit of work to be done in those areas so we’ll see.”

Commander

Bruce has a history of promoting clubs and now, the former Newcastle United manager has got a similar task at West Brom.

As the Baggies have always had a reputation of being resolute defensively, the addition of Yokuslu will add to their reputation.

Even though he tends to play as a central defender, he can also keep hold of the defensive midfield position whenever required by the manager.

In the 2021-22 season with Getafe and Celta Vigo, he played 19 La Liga games and had a pass completion rate of 83% [Whoscored].

Moreover, he averaged 0.7 tackles, 0.4 interceptions, and 1.15 clearances per game in La Liga. Due to his consistency, he managed to obtain a rating of 6.4.

He will also be a leader in the dressing room and demand standards from the rest of the West Brom players.

As West Brom eyeing a return to the Premier League, they would need more signings like Yokuslu and if they can get it done through the loan market, that would be even better for the club going forward.
