Ryan Lowe lauds ‘fantastic’ Steve Bruce as West Brom transfer saga continues

Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe has addressed comments made by West Brom boss Steve Bruce as they chase a new summer signing.

The Express and Star reported on 7 July that the Lilywhites were keen to sign Albion attacker Callum Robinson to bolster their side on loan but the Baggies are hoping for a sale.

Bruce was asked about clubs interested in the Republic of Ireland international and was adamant that clubs needed to “put their money where their mouth is” which has sparked a reaction from Lowe.

“Well, I read Steve Bruce’s comments and I felt a bit disrespectful,” Lowe said, as quoted by the Mirror. “It probably got worded a bit differently (to him) and without talking about other players, who wouldn’t be interested in a Callum Robinson?

“As I have said before. I will just say what I said last time, because unfortunately I have to respect that he’s West Brom’s player.

“That is all I can say on it and if there’s any change I am sure you will know. I don’t ever want to disrespect Steve Bruce and West Brom, because he is a fantastic bloke.”

Pipe down

The Preston manager doesn’t really have a leg to stand on here because Bruce has not said anything out of the ordinary or malicious towards anybody.

Of course whoever wants to sign Robinson will need to put their money where their mouth is because West Brom won’t sell a player based on words, only cash.

West Brom

If the Lilywhites make a substantial offer for the 27-year-old then the Baggies would surely consider it and may even accept it if he is not in Bruce’s plans with Daryl Dike back in action to make his push for game time much harder.

His goal contributions last season were his best during his time at The Hawthorns but it was hardly inspiring at any stage for West Brom fans and the mediocrity on show won’t sit well with them.

That means big changes are needed and Robinson might have to be one player who leaves the club in order to adequately shake up the norm.

In other West Brom news, a BBC pundit has been waxing lyrical about this Albion player after he showed his versatility in a pre-season game.
