Steve Bruce demands new West Brom signings move to within an hour of training ground

Steve Bruce has made the same demand to each of his new West Brom signings this summer, according to the Joseph Masi.

The reliable journalist has shared that new arrivals have been asked to move within an hour of the Baggies’ Walsall training ground to shorten commutes.

Bruce was not entirely happy to see some of this squad travel to training each day from as far as Brighton and Yorkshire last season with long commutes.

Writing in his latest column for the Express and Star, Masi shared what new recruits have been told by the gaffer ahead of the new season.

“Baggies boss Steve Bruce wants all his players to live within an hour of the club’s Walsall training base,” he wrote.

“Last season, though, eight players faced a commute of more than an hour to get to work with some travelling from as far a field as Brighton and North Yorkshire.

“Bruce is understood to have demanded all new recruits move to the area.”

Smart.

This makes complete sense.

It appears strange that some players were travelling that far to training each day, with David Button the player who was coming in from Brighton – hours of needless commute.

Hopefully, the squad are all within an hour of the training ground and the Hawthorns now, arriving each day as fresh as ever and ready to attack the day.

Bruce is looking to bring the best out of his squad, and working at their optimum levels each day will only help that as we look to earn promotion back to the Premier League.

We have all done long journeys before and you never feel great after so training or even playing a game soon after will not be good for the body.

Hopefully, these changes can help change everything and we can see the best version of this squad now, and that will start against Middlesbrough on the opening day this weekend.
