West Brom fail with late push to sign Keinan Davis from Aston Villa, medical underway at Watford
West Brom have come up short in their pursuit of Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis despite making a “late push” to sign him, according to The Athletic.
The news outlet reported on Friday morning (12 August) that Watford have agreed a deal with Aston Villa to sign the 24-year-old on loan with the option for the deal to be made permanent next summer.
It is understood that Davis is now undergoing a medical with the Hornets and as long as there are now late issues, the transfer will be completed by the end of Friday.

Back to the drawing board
Watford were lucky to earn a point at West Brom on Monday night and now the Hornets have come back to annoy the Albion once again by signing Davis ahead of them.
Steve Bruce really needs to sign a new striker with Daryl Dike set for an extended spell on the sidelines while Karlan Grant went off injured in the 1-0 win against Sheffield United on Thursday.
It remains to be seen if Grant’s injury is serious enough to keep him ruled out of the clash with Blackburn on Sunday but still, Albion’s striker options are getting lighter and lighter.
Kenneth Zohore is the only other senior option who’s an out-and-out forward – but he’s out of the question.

Callum Robinson is another option while youngster Reyes Cleary started against Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup and did quite well before he was substituted off.
Davis helped propel Nottingham Forest to promotion when he spent the second half of last season on loan at the City Ground, scoring five goals in 22 appearances across all competitions.
He’s not a bad player but we can do better so this isn’t a huge blow, it’s just one that means Bruce and Ron Gourlay will have to go back to the drawing board.
In other West Brom news, Guochuan Lai has left Bruce up the creek without a paddle.
