Chris Lepkowski: Alex Mowatt loan exit frees up wages for new West Brom striker loan
West Brom have freed up big wages on Saturday to seal their next signing which may be a striker on loan, according to Chris Lepkowski.
Alex Mowatt made the switch to Middlesbrough on loan to join up with Chris Wilder and a direct promotion rival at the Riverside Stadium after failing to make an impact so far this season.
Lepkowski admitted that Mowatt should retain value and at the same time, allow the Baggies to bring in a new striker to solve their latest Daryl Dike injury crisis.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Lepkowski shared what the thinking behind the deal could be with weeks to go in the window.
“Will be interesting to see how Mowatt gets on at Boro,” he wrote.
“Started well in a dysfunctional Ismael side but playing through a hernia was only going to impact on form. If he does well, he retains value.
“In the meantime having a big earner gone frees wages for a loan striker.”
Smart?
Steve Bruce will have been analysing his squad before making the decision to send Mowatt out on loan, and while it may free up wages, many questions need to be asked.
This may free up space in the wage bill for a striker to come in on loan from the Premier League, but it leaves another gap that needs filling now.
Jake Livermore, Jayson Molumby and Okay Yoksulu may not be enough to cover those two holding spots, especially when you consider that John Swift is the only attacking option too.
A new face is needed in the middle and we could now see a double loan swoop sooner rather than later, as well look to get this squad ready for a promotion push.
The early signs are good under Bruce, but a couple more fresh faces could transform everything and really get the train rolling towards the Premier League.
This is now one to watch.
In other West Brom news, it could be a title-challenging season for the Baggies with Bruce’s experience unrivalled anywhere in English football
