West Brom must do whatever it takes to sign Liam Delap to inspire promotion charge
West Brom are in almost desperate need of a striker who has a clinical edge after Daryl Dike suffered another long-term injury.
Karlan Grant has scored three goals in four games this season but he has also missed a number of really good chances that could have turned draws into wins and made the Baggies’ league position look a lot more secure.
As a result, Steve Bruce has started looking to the transfer market, just like Valerien Ismael did in January when Dike got injured again, and he has identified his main target for the summer.

According to Alan Nixon via Patreon, Manchester City striker Liam Delap is the player on Albion’s radar and the club have already asked to take him on loan for the season.
Pep Guardiola is unlikely to need a striker anytime soon having just splashed more than £50million on Erling Haaland and he now seems prepared to let Delap gain valuable experience away from The Etihad.
The 19-year-old has been scoring bucketloads of goals for the Citizens’ youth teams over the past couple of seasons and even has Champions League games under his belt as well as a goal in the League Cup.
If Bruce has any aspirations of West Brom mounting a promotion challenge this season, then he must do whatever it takes to get this deal over the line even if it is only for 12 months because Grant can not and will not score the goals required to see the Baggies go up.

Delap, even though unproven, just might be able to convert two in four chances rather than one in four as Grant tends to do most games.
It would be a big risk to put all your hopes on a teenager in his first loan away from Manchester City but you can’t argue against his record so far.
In other West Brom news, left-back is another area where Bruce wants improvement and the club have made contact over signing this African international.
