Liam Delap to meet with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola as West Brom make loan enquiry
Manchester City youngster Liam Delap is set to meet with Pep Guardiola to discuss his future as West Brom make loan enquiry for the 19-year-old striker according to The Athletic.
It has been suggested by The Athletic’s Elias Burke on Tuesday (16 August) that the Baggies face competition from other Championship sides for Delap.
It’s also understood that West Brom’s interest will be taken seriously if they commit to an offer for Delap, with Guardiola set to make a decision on the youngster’s future.
Perfect addition
Delap would be the ideal player to come in and ease Steve Bruce’s striking problems after Daryl Dike’s untimely injury that will keep the American out for two months.
The Manchester City youngster is thought of highly at the Etihad after his move from Derby County in the summer of 2019.
He scored eight goals and managed two assists in ten Premier League two appearances for City’s under-23 side and could thrive in the Championship on his first loan spell away from the Etihad.
Delap would be an unknown quantity for Bruce and that could well be a good thing for the West Brom boss.

Younger Premier League players need to experience regular first-team football and they can sometimes flourish in the second tier, with Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer an excellent example after his time at Preston North End in the 2021/22 campaign.
Furthermore, it’s also a low-risk signing for Bruce with a loan deal being the likely arrangement.
If his move to The Hawthorns didn’t work out, then City could recall him in January and then Bruce could look elsewhere.
Despite being an unknown quantity, this would certainly be a signing the West Brom faithful should get excited for.
In other West Brom news, it could be a title-challenging season for the Baggies with Bruce’s experience unrivalled anywhere in English football
