Alan Nixon shares West Brom striker hunt update after asked about shortlist

West Brom are reportedly looking around for a new striker and do not seem to have a shortlist ready for the next two weeks.

According to Sun journalist Alan Nixon, Liam Delap moving to Stoke City instead of the Hawthorns was a blow for the Baggies.

They are still on the hunt to sign a number nine before the window ends.

When asked about the possibility of a list, Nixon replied on Twitter, “Looking around. Delap a blow.”

Hurry up

If West Brom are serious about their promotion chances then they have to do everything they can to sign a top-drawer striker.

Missing out on Tom Lawrence to Derby and now Delap to Stoke has now thrown a spanner into the works and it’s back to the drawing board for them.

However, they cannot use this as an excuse for being incompetent in the transfer market and Steve Bruce needs to force their hand to get someone over the line quickly.

Ideally, signing one from the Championship or having prior experience of playing in England will be beneficial.

It does take time for overseas players to adapt to the pace and physicality of the English game and with no pre-season, he will be expected to hit the ground running.

The next few days are key and we’re hoping to hear positive news coming out from the Hawthorns or it could end up being another disastrous season.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies are set to battle Manchester United to sign an exit-bound Premier League goalkeeper this summer.
