Steve Bruce paints grim picture for West Brom ahead of last few weeks of transfer window

Steve Bruce has revealed that West Brom are trying their best to bolster their squad before the close of the ongoing transfer window.

The Baggies have made a few signings in the summer but most of them are free agents including John Swift, Jed Wallace and Okay Yokuslu.

Talking to the media as quoted by Express & Star ahead of the Championship fixture against Hull City at The Hawthorns on Saturday, Bruce stated that the club does not have an ample amount of cash to invest and therefore, the management is looking for ways to strengthen the squad.

“Absolutely,” he said when asked if the club are looking to explore options to bring in players. “We’re not awash with money, so you have to know this market exceptionally well.

“Of course, we’ve got Okay in the past, they’ve got a few others. It helps that we knew Okay of course, but you have to concentrate on a certain area when you haven’t got a lot to spend.”

Big days ahead

West Brom entered this season hoping not to replicate what happened in the last year where they failed to cement a place in the top-six and finished in the 10th spot.

However, this season has not started anyway near what was expected by the club supporters as the Baggies are currently in the relegation zone after failing to register a single win in the first four matches and having just three points in the process.

In a tough league like the Championship, it is important that West Brom must stay within touching distance of the teams who are fighting for direct promotions or at least for the sides who are expected to stay in contention for a spot in the playoffs.

Therefore, it is now imperative that regardless of what happens in the transfer window in the coming days, Bruce ensures that his team will be up and running in the match against Hull City.
