West Brom starting XI v Hull City: Captain Jake Livermore dropped

West Brom are back on home turf once again as they welcome the fast-starting Hull City to The Hawthorns looking for their first win of the season.

Albion chalked up their third draw in four matches on Wednesday as they cancelled out Steve Morison’s Cardiff City which leaves them in the relegation zone with only Luton Town and Coventry City (who have had two games called off due to pitch conditions) behind them.

The Tigers, meanwhile, are unbeaten thanks to victories at home to Bristol City and Norwich and draws on the road at Preston and Burnley.

For the visit of Shota Arveladze’s side, Baggies manager Steve Bruce has decided to make one change to the side that drew with Cardiff with captain Jake Livermore axed for Jayson Molumby.

Brutal

The sheer quality of the Championship is coming through here with yet another tough game for West Brom to contest as they try to get their season up and running.

Bruce won’t be worried about the performances of his side so far having looked the better side in the majority of games but they have not found a way to win ugly yet.

A scrappy 1-0 where they have their backs against the wall late on would be just as good a result as a 4-0 thumping against Hull just to get three points on the board at once rather than over four games.

West Brom

There is no secret that Daryl Dike is a big miss for Albion as he misses yet more games through injury and Karlan Grant doesn’t quite cut the mustard in his place but it can’t all come down to one man.

Every player has to be a goal threat if there are any serious ambitions of winning promotion and especially when a true goal-scorer is hard to come by at The Hawthorns.

In other West Brom news, Bruce wants a new left-back to add to his squad and he has turned his attention to the Premier League.
