Pressure ‘off’ West Brom players after win against Hull City – John Swift

John Swift believes that West Brom storming to victory against Hull City will lift a lot of pressure off the players.

The Baggies finally got their season up and running with a 5-2 win over the Tigers at the weekend which left them out of the bottom three in the Championship.

Swift was quoted in a report by Express & Star where he stated that the results would mean that the players will be under a little less pressure for the next match.

“We want to perform like this every single game,” he said. “If we scored five every game it would be nice.

“But we know the Championship is tough and there will be hard games ahead, but even if we perform at half the performance we did here, we could maybe get one or two.

“Then perhaps we’ll just get the one and we’ll be the ones to sit off and get a one goal win. It was good to get our first victory.

“The pressure was on, I think everybody knows that. We need to get our first win. The pressures off a little bit now.”

Important

West Brom entered the season hoping to be involved in a battle to either get directly promoted or at least finish in the playoffs spot where they can have another go of going back to the top division in English football.

However, their season couldn’t have had the worst start as they could not win a single match out of the first four with three draws and a defeat.

Therefore, the win against Hull, as Swift mentioned, was a critical one for West Brom, not in terms of only regaining their form but also ensuring that they remain in touching distance with the teams above in the table.

In terms of Swift’s performances on the personal level, it has been pretty decent with two goals in just five appearances and the fans will be hoping that the player will be able to continue delivering similar kinds of performances in the matches to come [Transfermarkt].

In other West Brom news, the club have reportedly freed up wages to sign a striker.
