Alan Nixon: West Brom still active in hunt for new signings
The Sun’s Alan Nixon has insisted that West Brom are still looking at new signings after the Baggies missed out on Liam Delap and Lewis Grabban.
Manchester City youngster Delap completed a move to Stoke City and Grabban finalised a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli Saudi FC.
This has left Bruce still scrambling for signings and Nixon has suggested that the free agent market could be a route the Baggies go down.
Replying to a question on West Brom’s transfer business on Twitter (24 August), Nixon Said: “Still looking at people…and you can sign a free agent outside the window.”
Something soon
Surely something has to give soon for Bruce in his never-ending search for a striker.
The Baggies need to provide some competition for Karlan Grant, who netted in West Brom’s 5-2 demolition of Hull City.
Kenneth Zohore is clearly not good enough to be part of a Championship promotion team and which means another striker is a must for the Baggies boss.
Grant has proven he can perform and score at Championship level but has started the season slowly and considering the amount of creativity Bruce has at his disposal, a clinical striker could thrive in this Baggies side.
It seems a waste to have the likes of Grady Diangana, John Swift and Jed Wallace with no out-and-out goalscorer present to put the numerous chances they create in the back of the net.

Bruce was unfortunate to miss out on Manchester City youngster Liam Delap, in what would’ve been an exciting addition.
The free agent market could be another route for the Baggies to go down, but whether a free agent is an answer for a team that has aspirations of promotion remains to be seen.
It would be refreshing to see the ownership back Bruce and bring an up-and-coming League One striker to The Hawthorns but that looks like a pipe dream at the moment.
In other West Brom news, the club have reportedly freed up wages to sign a striker.
