Chris Lepkowski slams West Brom duo after what they did v Huddersfield
West Brom shared the points with Huddersfield on Saturday as the two Championship clubs played out an entertaining 2-2 draw.
Chris Lepkowski was clearly not pleased with Conor Townsend or Dara O’Shea for unnecessarily complicating things at the back.
He believes that instead of playing long passes, getting the ball clear to safety is a priority and not doing that saw O’Shea being punished with the hosts capitalising on it.
Via Twitter, Lepkowski wrote, “A few times we’ve had defenders trying to play balls where simple clearances into touch would settle the threat. Townsend guilty but not punished. Dara was punished.”
Got to improve
It’s pretty clear that the Baggies cannot play scintillating and eye catching football under Steve Bruce so they’ve got to stick to the basics.
They know that Huddersfield are a high energy team that’s waiting for mistakes to capitalise on.
While it looked like it was going to cost them the entire game, West Brom will be happy to come away from this one with a point.
Jed Wallace scored a few minutes before half time to give the players some positivity going into the dressing room.
Whatever Bruce said clearly worked as they created some more chances and Wallace managed to find the back of the net once again.
At the end of it, Bruce’s side had more possession and more attempts on goal so they could be feeling that they should’ve picked up a win from this one.
