West Brom draw with Huddersfield brings immediate reaction from Nigel Quashie

Former West Brom midfielder Nigel Quashie raved about Jed Wallace after the winger scored twice against Huddersfield to win a point.

The summer signing brought his side back from a two-goal deficit, scoring either side of half-time to cancel out two Tino Anjorin strikes, in his latest strong performance since arriving from Millwall.

Reacting straight after the final whistle Quashie was quick to praise the Albion attacker, as well as the fight in the team to come back from behind, but wants a striker signed before the window shuts to help make the most of Wallace’s crossing ability.

Writing on his personal Twitter account the ex-Baggie said: “A point away from home after going 2 down shows resilience.

“Wallace has been class since arriving, his performances got the rewards with well deserved goals today.

“Time to get a centre forward in to get on the end of them crosses he puts in per game. Last bit of the [puzzle].”

Positives

Wallace is certainly turning out to be a major success with the Baggies and will likely go down as one of the top free transfers of the window.

There are a number of positives to start of the new campaign, but the results are all over the place and the match at the John Smith’s Stadium could have gone any one of three ways.

Daryl Dike’s rotten luck with injury has messed up the club’s plans in attack more than once now, and it remains a tantalising prospect of what the big American might be able to do if he could get a sustained run, or any run, in the side.

West Brom

So many of the weapons available to Steve Bruce would surely be all the more effective if they had a central focus point to play off and provide for.

The side has plenty to work on still and there were periods on Saturday where the Baggies were pretty awful, but fighting back from two goals down is never something to be sniffed at, and provides a platform for Bristol City in midweek and Blackpool next weekend.

In other West Brom news, the club were dealt a “massive kick in the head” by a Championship rival in the transfer window.
