West Brom must start scoring first to improve results – Jed Wallace

Jed Wallace believes that West Brom must score first if they are to improve their results in the 2022-23 Championship campaign.

The Baggies have found it hard to secure positive results in the ongoing season where they have won just once in their six outings in the Championship.

Wallace was quoted in a report by Express & Star where he suggested that it is important for the team to score the first goal in the match which will help the side in implementing a counter-attacking strategy.

“One we need [is] to start scoring first,” he said. “I think that’s going to be a big factor in our season. If we can score first then teams have to come out rather than sit in, with the quality we have on the transition I think that will really tell, as we ended up putting five past Hull.

“We’ve started games well, Saturday was probably the first we’ve started poorly. There’s a lot of positives, I just hope performances stay the same and results will turn.”

Important time

West Brom entered the campaign hoping to have a much better outing than last time around where they finished in the 10th position in the league table — eight points behind sixth-placed Luton Town — and subsequently, failed in a bid to get promoted.

However, the start of this season has been nothing short of a disaster as, after the first six matches, the Baggies have only managed to secure seven points with just one win and four defeats.

Those results will never going to be enough for the fans and the top-tier management who would be hoping for a quick turnaround.

Those results have definitely put Steve Bruce under a bit of pressure and he will be hoping that his players will lift their game and secure a positive result when West Brom will go up against Wigan Athletic in the next league fixture at the DW Stadium on Tuesday.

In other West Brom news, Albion could have been welcoming a new loan signing but they have messed up as he heads towards Birmingham instead.
