West Brom push to sign Brandon Thomas-Asante from Salford this week
West Brom are fighting to sign Salford striker Brandon Thomas-Asante this week after meeting his asking price, according to Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist has reported that Steve Bruce is going up against Birmingham City, with the two clubs now set to try and offer the best personal terms to win the race.
The Baggies have been named as serious rivals as they look to finally make their move to solve their final third crisis with Kenneth Zohore and Daryl Dike out injured.

Writing on his official Patreon page on Tuesday morning (30 August), Nixon shared that the Baggies have finally made their move to bring in a striker.
“West Brom boss Steve Bruce is fighting with Birmingham City for Salford striker Brandon Thomas-Asante,” he wrote. “The Midlands pair will now try to make the best personal offer to the forward after meeting the fixed price in his deal.
“Salford are clearing the way for Thomas-Asante to take his pick of the Championship pair as he makes the big step up the ladder.
“Blues have been pushing hard to complete but West Brom are serious rivals and have a need for a forward to add to their squad.”

Underwhelming.
After all this time, is this the best we can come up with?
We have seen all of the links with these young and upcoming quality Premier League strikers who are crying out to make their mark, and instead, the Baggies have dropped down to League Two.
Of course, it wouldn’t be right to judge until Thomas-Asante actually went out if he was signed and did the business, but if he was to fall victim of the pressure at The Hawthorns, it would be no surprise.
Bruce is really hanging himself out to dry here with this one, and if he pushes that hard and gets it done for it to only fail, he would be in trouble.
With the price met, it comes down to who offers the best deal, and surely we can outprice Birmingham.
It is no secret that the finances at The Hawthorns aren’t the best, but when you’re getting potentially outbid by the Blues, it means they are even worst than once thought.
Thomas-Asante has a big call to make, but we could be looking at our new striker to help our promotion push for Premier League football between now and May.
In other West Brom news, Albion could have been welcoming a new loan signing but they have messed up as he heads towards Birmingham instead.
