West Brom likely to be active until final moments of transfer window
West Brom have not made the huge amount of signings that many were hoping for this summer but the work has not stopped yet.
The Athletic have reported that the Baggies are readying themselves for a late-summer trolley dash as they look to add more reinforcements once Brandon Thomas-Asante signs on the dotted line from Salford City.
That is something Steve Bruce has seemingly backed up as he spoke to The Athletic following Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw away at Wigan Athletic in the Championship.

“We haven’t finished yet,” the boss said. “We’re trying. I knew we were going to go down the loan route, and we’ve been disappointed that one or two have not chosen us, which would have given us a hand. We know that when you go for loans, it will be late. We’re trying our best, and we’ll see what develops.”
Crucial
This season is threatening to already get away from West Brom if they aren’t going to make enough new signings before the deadline strikes.
Thomas-Asante is one piece of the puzzle but the Ammies’ top scorer is not going to solve all of the issues that arose throughout last season and the start of the new campaign.
Albion still lacks a top goalkeeper who can win games single-handedly and some left-back competition for Conor Townsend wouldn’t go a miss either.

That would also allow Zac Ashworth to leave on loan which would be highly beneficial for him as he is unlikely to play many games if Townsend stays fit.
This might be the busiest end to a transfer window that the Baggies have had for quite some time but they do have the safety of knowing that free agent signings are not limited to the transfer window.
If one position is not resolved by then, Bruce can dip back into the free market to fill out the final places of his squad and then push forward to achieve whatever he can for the season.
