West Brom make late surge to sign Tyreece Simpson from Ipswich Town
West Brom have made a late move to try and beat Huddersfield Town to the signature of Tyreece Simpson, according to the East Anglian Daily Times.
The 20-year-old striker has already had a bid worth £500,000 accepted by his current club Ipswich Town from the Terriers but personal terms are holding up the deal.
Simpson wants to leave Portman Road having been recalled from a fruitful loan at Swindon Town last season only to sit on the bench for the majority of games in League One.

As a result, the Baggies are looking to swoop at the last minute to sign Simpson who is a former rugby player in his youth and turned down a professional contract with the Leicester Tigers to pursue his football career [EADT].
The Ipswich-born number nine is in the final year of his contract in Suffolk so would be available for a cheap price which Huddersfield have already set at half a million pounds.

Steve Bruce has needed a new striker all summer and Daryl Dike getting himself injured, again, has only amplified that need so if Simpson can be bought for such a small price, then it is an absolute no-brainer for Albion.
Even adjust 20 years of age, he will physically dominate any defender that comes up against him and West Brom have not got that power up front since Andy Carroll’s short-term deal expired in July.

A different point of attack is always a fantastic option to have for any manager but Simpson is not all brute force though because he has a surprisingly rapid turn of foot.
His actual ability on the ball can often leave a lot to be desired, while it is still better than most could manage, but his sheer physical presence in both strength and speed make him a proper chaos-maker in the opposition defence.
In the madness that is the Championship, he is the kind of player who could fit right in for the Baggies and allow more room for the technical wizards John Swift and Jed Wallace to work their magic.
In other West Brom news, it could be one in and one out for Bruce as this Albion attacker is in talks over a sideways move in the second tier.
