Nominal fee agreed as Birmingham set to beat West Brom Tahith Chong – Sky Sports
Birmingham look to have beaten West Brom to the signing of Manchester United winger Tahith Chong, according to Sky Sports.
The reliable outlet has shared that a nominal fee has now been agreed between the Red Devils and our Birmingham rivals as another move looks set to collapse.
A medical is now due within hours as the Dutchman looks unlikely to arrive at The Hawthorns if not for a last-minute bid from the Baggies.

Writing on their live blog this afternoon, Sky Sports shared the latest as the Albion look set to miss out on yet another new transfer on deadline day.
“However, Chong has now been given permission to leave, and it looks like Birmingham have beaten rivals West Brom to his signature, having agreed a nominal fee,” they wrote.
“Chong, who is in the final year of his Manchester United contract, is due to undergo a medical in Birmingham shortly.”

How on earth?
When Birmingham are beating you to signings, you know something has gone wrong.
West Brom must not have been pushing too hard to sign Chong before 11 pm this evening, or surely he would have selected a move to The Hawthorns over St Andrews.
Attacking reinforcements are desperately needed with Callum Robinson set to move on and only Brandon Thomas-Asante coming in to add firepower.
With the fee agreed only being described as nominal, it wouldn’t take much for the owners to pull out the cash to get this one done as it could be even below £1million.
Another winger could be favoured given that the likes of Matt Phillips have failed to deliver and rotation options little to none as things stand for Bruce.
Things can always change on deadline day within minutes, so don’t expect this one to have ended until it is officially announced by Birmingham in the coming hours.
In other West Brom news, the club have already been dealt a “massive kick in the head” in this transfer window.
