West Brom likely to appeal decision as Fulham midfielder Josh Onamah move now off
West Brom have reportedly failed with their efforts to sign Fulham midfielder Josh Onamah in the final minutes of transfer deadline day.
According to Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath, the Baggies were set to sign the 25-year-old on a season-long loan.
However, the paperwork has not been lodged in time which means West Brom can issue an appeal and they’re likely to do just that.
Via Twitter, McGrath wrote, “But the paperwork has not been lodged in time. Deal off.
“This can be appealed, which #wba are likely to do.”
Shambles
Onomah will be an important addition to this side so it’s shameful if the Baggies fail to register this one in time.
We’re still unaware which team is at fault here but both sides should jointly fight the appeal as it’s something they wanted.
The outcome of this is uncertain, but it does seem unlikely that the governing body will turn this down.
There’s no valid reason for that to happen and if it’s a matter of a few minutes, it surely is irrelevant and mundane in the grand scheme of things.
Hopefully, this one is all just a misunderstanding and the transfer is to go ahead, no questions asked.
However, unless and until there’s an official announcement from either side, we’re unaware of which way the pendulum will swing.
West Brom desperately need midfield reinforcements so not being able to sign Onomah may significantly affect their Premier League push.
