Josh Onomah in Birmingham hotel in wait to find out fate of West Brom move

Josh Onomah is currently waiting in a hotel room in Birmingham to find out if his move to West Brom can be completed, according to Mike McGrath.

The Fulham midfielder was set to join the Baggies on transfer deadline day in a loan deal and even had his medical all sorted by 4:30pm but the paperwork took too long to finalise and the deadline was missed.

The same failure occurred in the instance of Steven Alzate although paperwork did not arrive for West Brom to complete until very late in the day.

“Fulham midfielder Josh Onomah currently in Birmingham hotel waiting to be updated on whether move to West Brom is possible,” McGrath said via his personal Twitter account.

“Medical was done at 4.30pm on deadline day. Steven Alzate deal also in doubt. West Brom (in fairness) did receive some required paperwork very very late.”

Chaos

Nothing is ever straightforward for Albion anymore and even what seemed to be the simplest of deadline day deals has turned into a farce.

The Cottagers were more than happy to let Onomah leave the club having not managed to force his way into Marco Silva’s side and Steve Bruce knows him well having managed him at Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday.

West Brom

And with the medical done so far in advance of the 11pm deadline, it should have been a very simple execution of the paperwork and an announcement in the evening but instead, the palaver is continuing into Friday.

Bruce does not have time to think about this problem today with Burnley the visitors at The Hawthorns this evening so he has t hope that the hierarchy above him can sort out this mess and get Onomah into the squad for next weekend onwards.

Alzate looks certain to collapse though so Onomah mustn’t be forgotten.

In other West Brom news, talks to sign this monstrous striker also broke down on deadline day after very late Albion interest.
