West Brom launched late bid for Theo Walcott – Sky Sports commentator

West Brom actually tabled a bid to sign Southampton winger Theo Walcott on transfer deadline day this week, according to Gary Weaver.

The Sky Sports commentator was explaining how the Baggies missed out on Josh Onomah and Steven Alzate, before making it a triple blow for Steve Bruce.

An offer was actually made for the England international, although it never really took off compared to the other two loan moves that were on the verge.

Speaking live on Sky Sports‘ coverage of the Burnley showdown on Friday evening [03 September], Weaver made it clear it was more than just an initial interest.

“They launched a bid to sign Theo Walcott,” he said.

“Although that never really took off.”

West Brom

Another One.

Wow, just when you thought things couldn’t have gotten any worst.

If a bid for Walcott was on the table at some stage on Thursday (01 September), Ron Gourlay must be asking what he did wrong to deserve luck such as this.

Targeting three players on deadline day, seeing two complete medicals but then none of them arriving must be somewhat of a record and the most West Brom thing we have ever seen.

Walcott could have delivered that finishing touch last night against Burnley that we were crying out for, or in the future given he likely wouldn’t have been registered in time.

It is time to move on with no new late additions now anyway as we cannot feel sorry for ourselves that the EFL has categorically said no to any of the ideas being put through on appeal.

Obviously, it is no surprise that this happened to us, but there is no time to feel sorry for yourselves in the Championship, you have to get back on the horse.

In other West Brom news, the club had already been dealt a “massive kick in the head” in latest transfer window.
