West Brom: BBC pundit expects Brandon Thomas-Asante to be a ‘gem’ at Hawthorns
As new signings go, West Brom attacker Brandon Thomas-Asante could not have asked for a better start to life at The Hawthorns.
The 23-year-old arrived from League Two Salford City late in the summer transfer window and immediately endeared himself to Baggies fans with a 98th-minute equaliser at home to Burnley.
BBC pundit Carlton Palmer now expects the Milton Keynes-born striker to become something of a star for Albion and especially if he keeps up the same kind of form throughout the season.

“I think he’s a really good signing,” he told Football League World. “And, I think you’ve got to look at that when you look at the position that Steve Bruce is in, and you’ve got to hope that one of those (deals for younger players) ends up being a gem – This could be one of them.
“He spent three seasons down at Salford, 120 appearances, 30 goals and 11 assists. This season, he was already away with five goals and two assists before he moved to West Brom. And, he’s already hit the ground running at West Brom and scored a goal.”
Mister Excitement
Whenever Thomas-Asante gets on the ball, there is a feeling that something amazing might be about to happen and that doesn’t happen with very many players in world football let alone in the Championship.
There is just something electric about him and if he can keep this goal-scoring record going for the rest of the season then the sky really is the limit for this lad.

Of course, to score one every single game is never going to happen (unless you’re Erling Haaland at Manchester City) but it only takes 15-20 goals along with Karlan Grant tallying a similar amount to really vault West Brom up the league table.
Steve Bruce might soon have a dilemma of which to start or even if both lead the line in a change of formation to suit the two hotshot strikers.
The boss certainly won’t be complaining at Thomas-Asante’s start to life at The Hawthorns and long may it continue.
In other West Brom news, Palmer wasn’t all full of praise as he questioned the decision to sell one of the most experienced players at the club.
