Chris Lepkowski reacts to West Brom signing Tom Rogic, suggests he could play as No.10

Chris Lepkowski is very happy that West Brom have signed Tom Rogic and suggested he could play as a number ten, after his signing was confirmed.

The Australian midfielder left Celtic with a year remaining on his contract after he wanted to pursue a new challenge, and has now ended up at The Hawthorns on a free transfer.

After bolstering the club’s central midfield options by putting pen to paper on a one-year deal, Lepkowski reacted to the news on his personal Twitter account and suggested that he could take up a new role in the squad.

“Has the potential to be a good signing,” he said. “Useful in the no10 role.”

That position has so far been occupied almost exclusively by another free transfer signing, John Swift, who has registered two goals and one assist in eight appearances this season.

Depth

Last season Rogic managed six goals and ten assists in 50 appearances for the Scottish champions Celtic as the most advanced midfielder in the side.

His skill, vision and creativity were a big reason why they were able to dethrone Rangers as domestic champions, putting together a terrific run of form that saw them go unbeaten from October onwards.

His hunger never stopped and it led to him leaving the club a year early for regular football elsewhere and the 29-year-old has now crossed the border to try his luck in the English game.

Bruce had been keen to add some flair and skill to the deeper midfield position and a slight positional change for Rogic could see him go straight into the side alongside a more traditional holding midfielder to make the team even more attacking.

It’s a shrewd signing and a great bit of business in the free agent market from the club once again and will only improve the sides chances of promotion.
