New West Brom signing Tom Rogic impresses Nigel Quashie

West Brom confirmed the arrival of Australian international midfielder Tom Rogic on Monday (12 September) which has impressed Nigel Quashie.

The 29-year-old was released by reigning Scottish Premiership champions Celtic at the end of last season with a gold medal in his pocket but he was yet to find a club elsewhere until the Baggies swooped in.

He should be available to play on Wednesday as Albion take on Birmingham City in the Championship but that would be up to Steve Bruce to decide how his match fitness is looking.

Regardless of that, Quashie is very much looking forward to seeing what Rogic may do for West Brom, saying: “Good signing. I’ve been impressed with him every time watched him play,” on his Twitter account.

The Australian may not be the last free agent Bruce looks to bring to The Hawthorns over the next month or so as he looks to strengthen his squad outside of the transfer window.

Winner

His individual quality may not be any better than that of John Swift in the attacking midfielder area but his constant winning at Celtic will surely rub off on the Albion squad.

They have been in desperate need of someone who knows how to not only win games but finish right near the top of the division he has played in and they don’t come much more experienced than the Aussie.

West Brom

If Rogic can imprint that winning mentality onto this West Brom squad then the sky is the ceiling for them because there is no doubting the talent within the group.

They just have not been able to turn draws into wins or defeats into draws often enough and that is what Bruce hopes to solve with Rogic’s arrival.

More is still needed and it’s good to see Bruce is not slowing down despite the window closing earlier in the month when there are still gaps to fill elsewhere on the field.

In other West Brom news, this journalist was “amazed” to see that Rogic had not got a club before Albion swooped to make the signing.
