Gary Taphouse reacts to Tom Rogic transfer ahead of West Brom v Birmingham
Sky Sports commentator Gary Taphouse has reacted to the news that West Brom have signed midfield free agent Tom Rogic and gave an important update on Wednesday’s fixture against Birmingham, via his Twitter page.
It’s great news for fans of the Albion, they have finally signed their man Rogic on a one-year deal subject to international clearance. [Express and star].
And it seems the Baggies’ game against Birmingham on Wednesday evening will be going ahead; with the fixture permitting policing issues.
The EFL released a statement today outlining the league’s plans to resume all action on Tuesday, music to the ears of football league lovers.
“The EFL fixture programme will return as scheduled from Tuesday 13 September, with tributes to be paid to Her late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II at grounds around the country,” the EFL said in a statement.
“With a national policing plan now in operation, the League and Clubs will continue to work with forces in respect of any challenges that may emerge regarding policing of specific fixtures.
“Consideration to individual circumstances will be made on a case-by-case basis, in line with standard match Safety Advisory Group (SAG) protocols.” [Birmingham Mail].
This clears up Taphouse’s comments on Twitter regarding “policing issues”.
Priceless for Albion
Rogic brings a wealth of experience with him to The Hawthorns and will hopefully burst some life into Steve Bruce’s lacklustre midfield.
The Australian international put pen to paper on a one-year deal with an option to extend; ideal for West Brom who aren’t committed to the player should things not work out.
However, with the World Cup on the horizon, Rogic will be wanting to make a quick start to life in the Midlands, as he’ll be hoping for a spot in Graham Arnold’s squad.
A new fresh challenge creates the perfect remedy for Rogic to succeed in the Championship and his experience will be vital to any chances West Brom have at making a Play-Off push.
The midfielder spoke of his excitement to join Steve Bruce’s ranks, something which seems like the perfect potion for all parties involved.

It’s unlikely that Rogic will feature in Wednesday’s game at home to Birmingham, but the midfielder is in with a shot of making the squad for Saturday’s game against Norwich.
