Celtic ace Josip Juranovic likens West Brom signing Tom Rogic to Lionel Messi

Celtic defender Josip Juranovic has compared new West Brom signing Tom Rogic to PSG and former Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

The former Hoops midfielder completed his free transfer to Hawthorns this summer after the Baggies failed to sign Steven Alzate from Brighton on loan.

The 29-year-old took to Instagram to express his delight at joining the Championship outfit.

He wrote, “Very happy to have signed for @wba and to start a new chapter in my career. Looking forward to the season ahead.”

This saw Juranovic, his former teammate at Celtic Park reply, “Messi good luck.”

Some signing

Juranovic, a league winner in each of his last two seasons, surely knows a thing or two about talented players and this comparison certainly means something.

We’re not naive enough to think that Rogic will have a Messi-esque impact at the club but the fact that he was rated so highly at a big club like Celtic means there will be a certain flavour to him.

He will bring that skillset and winning mentality to the Hawthorns – something that Steve Bruce will be extremely appreciative of.

He’s used to working with a certain calibre of players and it finally seems like he’s gotten the right mix of talent he needs to thrive at West Brom.

Everything seems to be in place for him to secure promotion with this side as it appears to be his best chance at the club.

Anything below sixth and he does not deserve to continue at the Hawthorns and it will probably be extremely difficult for them to get back to the Premier League after May.

With six draws in eight games, it’s not the start Bruce would’ve wanted and hopefully, Rogic’s signing can quickly turn things around.
