James Morrison and Jonas Olsson send messages as former West Brom keeper Ben Foster retires
James Morrison and Jonas Olsson have both sent messages to former West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster as the 39-year-old announced his retirement.
Foster played for the Baggies for seven years, between 2011 and 2018 and made 209 appearances during his long stint at The Hawthorns.
Olsson and Morrison both took to Instagram after Foster confirmed that he would be calling it a day after departing Watford at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Olsson wrote on his Instagram story (15 September): “Happy retirement. Bailed me out of more trouble than I’d like to remember.”
Morrison also took sent the 39-year-old a message: “Best of the best, good luck Fozzy.”
Better times
Hearing former players such as Olsson and Morrison send messages for Foster certainly brings back memories of better times for The Hawthorns faithful.
The current crop of talent could certainly do with a couple of leaders such as Foster or Olsson at the moment to drag them away from their dire current position in the Championship standings.
In regards to Foster’s retirement, there was plenty of talk suggesting that he could have one more season in the Championship or at a lower-end Premier League side, but it’s probably the best decision for him to hang up his gloves now.

He featured regularly for Watford in the Premier League in the 2021/22 season and is calling it a day when he is still playing at the highest level possible.
Far too often we see players prolong their careers and fans forget about how good they used to be and instead remember their performance declining as they can’t keep up with the physical demands of the modern game.
This was a smart decision by Foster, who will be fondly remembered by everyone associated with West Brom.
In other West Brom news, Tony Brown says Bruce made a decision on this Albion player in the defeat to Blues because of the angry home fans at The Hawthorns.
