West Brom may regret Gabriel Sara failed transfer after ‘audacious’ moment for Norwich

West Brom gave a very good account of themselves away at high-flying Norwich City on Saturday but still could come away with victory.

The Baggies took an early lead thanks to Dara O’Shea and made countless opportunities to go further in front as the Canaries were shell-shocked on home turf but they could not find a way to extend their lead.

Instead, Sam Byram deflected in an equaliser to peg back Steve Bruce’s side to yet another draw in the Championship to see them drop to 21st in the league after Swansea City beat Hull City in the early kickoff.

One player who could have made the difference for West Brom nearly did for Norwich as Gabriel Sara unleashed a shot from nowhere that nearly crept into David Button’s goal.

“Norwich’s Sara hits the crossbar with an unbelievably audacious and brilliantly-executed strike on the bounce from a tight angle. Flashed past Button but kissed woodwork on way over,” Express and Star journalist Lewis Cox described it as.

Chris Lepkowski even went as far as to say: “Gabriel Sara, thinking he’s Van Basten,” via his personal Twitter account.

It could have been in blue and white that he was starring this season though as Norwich swooped in to deny the Baggies the move earlier in the summer, according to Ge Globo.

The move would have cost Albion more than £10million so they might be glad they didn’t with Jayson Molumby the headline purchase of the summer for £900,000.

But the Brazilian youngster is a supremely talented individual who very nearly took the game away from West Brom on Saturday and they can’t afford to be missing out on such talents in the future.

In other West Brom news, there is another free agent on Bruce’s radar and this one has 20 England caps to his name.
