West Brom trip to Norwich draws sarcastic outlook from Hollywood actor Matthew Marsden
Actor Matthew Marsden reacted with sarcastic excitement at the prospect of the next West Brom game, the trip to Norwich on Saturday 17 September.
After the 3-2 derby defeat to Birmingham (14 September) the enthusiasm around the club has dipped significantly as a dismal display betrayed most of the good things that have been shown during the previous unbeaten run.
Steve Bruce is under pressure with the Baggies in 20th-place in the Championship, and the chances of reaching even the playoffs are currently looking remote.
In that context, while responding on his personal Twitter account to the club’s post about the next match being a trip to Carrow Road Marsden wrote alongside a confused emoji: “Can’t wait.”
Slump
The West Brom native and former Coronation Street member, who is now an American citizen and has featured in the likes of Rambo and Black Hawk Down [IMDB], is likely speaking for plenty of those who are still local.
Until the derby defeat it appeared that this side was on the brink of clicking, and perhaps the long-heralded return of Daryl Dike could provide all the answers in the form of a better rate of finishing chances.
There are still good elements, with some of the build-up play on first half attacking moves at the Hawthorns on Wednesday very encouraging.

But the overall display was nowhere near good enough and the defensive side of things was pretty abysmal, with Kyle Bartley having one of his worst games in an Albion shirt.
There is of course still time to rectify things this season, but it is easily far enough into the campaign for this to no longer be just a tricky start.
Failing to turn any of those many draws into wins is suddenly looking like a bigger problem than it did a couple of weeks ago, and considering the team finished last season with general apathy engulfing the fans, things could be headed that way again.
Outside of new arrivals Jed Wallace and John Swift producing there isn’t enough to rely on currently, and Marsden has likely summed up a lot of the supporter-base’s feelings about a trip to the side second in the table and on a six-game winning streak.
In other West Brom news, it sounds like Ron Gourlay already has Bruce’s future as manager decided.
