Signing for West Brom was ‘no-brainer’ – Erik Pieters
Erik Pieters says he has the experience to help West Brom in the ongoing campaign.
The Baggies signed the 34-year-old as a free agent on a one-year deal after he impressed while training.
Pieters was quoted in a report by Express & Star where he stated that it was a no-brainer for him to sign for the club.

“I just want to play games, be of value for the team on and off the pitch,” he said. “I think with the experience I have I can help the team.
“I was really pleased they (Albion) let me train with them. It meant I stayed on top of my fitness. Of course, I did a lot at home, so that helped.
“But as everyone knows it’s different training at home than with the other lads. I was really pleased and at one point they came and offered me a deal. It was a no-brainer for me to sign and be here for another year.
“West Brom came and I did my best there, showed what I’ve got and they said we really want to have you and we went from there.”
Important
West Brom entered the campaign hoping to improve what they did in the last season where they finished on the 10th position of the league table, eight points behind sixth-placed Luton Town.

However, after just 10 matchdays, things are already looking grim for the side as the Baggies are placed in the 21st position in the league table with just 10 points, already 13 behind leaders Sheffield United.
West Brom’s problem this season has been their defensive unit where they’ve pretty much always conceded the first goal and from there on, they had to chase and subsequently ended up losing out on the opportunity of winning the match.
The signing of the 34-year-old was therefore a step in the right direction and he was pretty impressive for the team in the 1-1 draw against Norwich where he made a successful tackle, a clearance and two interceptions [Whoscored].
The fans will be hoping that was just the beginning of what Pieters can offer to the side in the ongoing campaign.
In other West Brom news, it has become clear whether Ron Gourlay plans to sack Bruce during the international break.
