West Brom release Companies House documents, finance guru suggests new loans from new source

West Brom have uploaded six new “satisfaction of charge” documents on Companies House, confirming they’ve been released from a series of mortgage loans.

According to football finance expert Kieran Maguire, Albion most of the loans “are quite old” or were paid up a long time ago so the spate of new documents on Companies House on Wednesday (21 September) could be down to “a bit of housekeeping”.

Writing vis his personal Twitter account on Thursday morning (22 September), Maguire did however say that West Brom could be doing this in order to secure loans from elsewhere.

“West Brom are released from a series of mortgage loans,” said the football finance guru, who runs the Price of Football podcast.

“Many are quite old and have probably been paid off some time ago so could be just a bit of housekeeping.

“Alternatively could be clearing the decks to allow club to borrow from a new source.”

West Brom

Loans, loans, loans

It seems West Brom have a never-ending issue with loans.

Of course, there might not be any issues here but due to Guochuan Lai owing the club around £12million due to previous loans taken out by himself and Jeremy Peace, there’s obviously going to be some uncertainty among the fanbase.

Even loaning players seems to be an issue after the failed move for Josh Onomah on deadline day due to paperwork not being filled in correctly and not submitted on time.

Maguire is as clued-up as you can get on football finances and his take on this latest spate of MR04 forms is one that we’re willing to consider.

Yes, some of the mortgage loans look to be old as they relate to The Throstles Social Club and the club’s training ground in Great Barr.

But there’s also something about parachute payments tied in there.

We’re not going to pretend we know what all of this is about but Maguire has a better idea than anyone out there.

It’ll be interesting to see if he does any more digging on this.
