West Brom must make Davie Selke priority number one in January
West Brom missed out on a number of summer transfer targets on deadline day but they have to return to make one of them a priority.
The Baggies moved very fast last season to make Daryl Dike their first January signing on the first of the month and a similar act this time around would be welcome with the same problem occurring.
Despite Dike’s arrival and that of Brandon Thomas-Asante from Salford City, Albion are still struggling woefully in front of goal and it has seen them slip to 21st in the Championship after 10 games.
One player they need to try and sign as soon as possible when the January window opens is Hertha Berlin target man Davie Selke after they failed in a late move in the summer, as per Elias Burke.
The six-foot-four giant is more of a bulldozer than a poacher which might not necessarily solve the problems Steve Bruce’s side are having but it could be enough to terrify the opposition into gifting them their own chance.
It could even spark Bruce into a much-needed formation change having been utterly uninspiring in most games this season when it comes to creating chances.

A deal in the summer could have cost a fair amount for the Baggies but Selke’s contract at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin expires at the end of the season so Hertha may be willing to sell very cheaply to ensure they get some form of fee for him.
That opens the door very wide for Albion to come charging through and make them an offer they can’t refuse with one eye constantly on their wallet.
Thomas-Asante and Karlan Grant need that added pressure of a different element too to keep them on their toes and Dike’s return from injury, whenever it may be, will be even more welcome.
In other West Brom news, the pressure is mounting for this Albion loanee whose club is enduring an even worse start to the campaign than his parent club.
