West Brom hero Ally Robertson pleads for just one thing in Swansea City clash

West Brom are back in Championship action on Saturday (1 October) when they welcome Russel Martin’s Swansea City to The Hawthorns.

The Baggies are nearing desperation for points as they sit precariously above the relegation zone on just goal difference in 21st place after a difficult start to the season.

The Swans are not in such trouble at the moment but they too are hardly making headlines in the second tier, languishing in a mid-table position after 10 matches have been played.

Albion hero Ally Robertson is just hoping for one thing when the two sides clash in the Midlands at 3pm this Saturday.

“As long as we play as a team on Saturday then we will beat Swansea,” he said to the Express and Star. “In games we’ve struggled we’ve played as forwards, midfielders and defenders, we’ve not been a team.

“The first thing I’m looking for now is please can we have a clean sheet! That is one thing that Brucie will be looking at the same. We’ve been making enough chances but we’ve been giving away silly goals, there hasn’t been enough clean sheets.

“We had to change the way we attacked because of the way it was going, but now we’ve got to make sure we cut out mistakes at the back.”

Balance

Over the entirety of last season, defending was the one thing West Brom could do very well and they earned a lot of their points thanks to resilience at the back but things have changed this time around.

West Brom

Individual errors and brilliance have seen the Baggies struggle to keep their sheet squeaky clean so far and Steve Bruce must find a way to cut it out entirely and give the strikers that chance to be a match-winner.

The goals are still not flowing as much as the boss would like considering the volume of chances created by the new creative outlets John Swift and Jed Wallace.

Controlling possession is all well and good but if it only takes one moment of madness from an individual to undo all the good work, then there is no point.

Swansea should dominate the ball on Saturday with Martin very keen on his keep-ball tactics that often see his side top the passing charts no matter who he is managing but that might be what Bruce wants after all.

In other West Brom news, the manager has to consider recalling this young midfield sensation after his wonder goal went viral last weekend.
