Chris Lepkowski slams Steve Bruce tactics as West Brom fall to defeat v Swansea
Chris Lepkowski was not a fan of the tactical setup Steve Bruce went with as West Brom suffered a 3-2 loss against Swansea on Saturday.
The Baggies boss tried to fit in as many attacking midfielders as he possibly could and that clearly did not work out at the Hawthorns.
Despite having more attempts, they failed to control possession and create those clear-cut opportunities that would lead to goals.
Lepkowski wrote on Twitter, “Bruce clearly wanted to accommodate the attacking midfielders today but it isn’t working – no control whatsoever in the centre. And once again WBA having to be reactive rather than proactive. These early goals so damaging.”
Change needed
Bruce cannot keep doing the same thing and expect different results and it’s pretty clear at this point that the players do not seem to be responding.
The quality in the team should see the side through in more games than not but that has not happened this season.
Usually, managers tend to make teams better and push players to new heights, but under Bruce it seems like none of them are playing at their 100 per cent.
After 11 games, they’re in very serious relegation trouble as they find themselves in 21st place, having conceded 17 goals.
They’ve also got fewer wins than any side in the Championship and if Coventry get even four points from their remaining three games in hand, Albion will be in a miserable 22nd.
We’re not sure how much pressure, if any is being put on Bruce by the board, but he knows just as well as anyone, that these kinds of results are not acceptable.
