West Brom to reconsider penalty taker after latest Karlan Grant miss
West Brom will reconsider Karlan Grant’s role as the team’s penalty taker following the forwards lackluster effort on Saturday against Swansea.
Grant came off the bench for Albion in the 3-2 defeat but was handed the golden opportunity as 2-2 to slow home from 12 yards when the score was 2-2.
The former Huddersfield and Charlton hitman lifted a poor effort down the middle of the goal, one that was easily saved by Swans keeper Steven Benda.

Speaking to the Express and Star, Steve Bruce admitted that Albion would look at solving the reoccurring problem of penalties being missed, highlighting that Grant has missed his fair share now.
“He’s the designated penalty taker when he’s on the pitch,” said Bruce.
“Last time Brandon (Thomas-Asante) took it because Granty wasn’t on. However, I believe now that’s three times he’s missed at home, I can recall back. So of course we’ll have a look at that.”

Poor.
The pressure is certainly well and truly on for Albion boss Bruce after Saturday afternoon’s defeat and Grant’s penalty miss hasn’t helped matters.
Despite scoring a penalty against Hull in West Brom’s only win of the season so far, Grant has been relatively poor from the spot, missing four efforts whilst Bruce has been at the helm.
New signing Thomas-Asante may be the man to take over the penalty spot duties, he converted an effort against Birmingham after Grant was replaced.
Grant’s overall performances up top have been far from great, he’s failed to score in draws against Coventry and Millwall as well as a 4-0 win against Barnsley at home last year.
And in a time when Albion needs a striker to grab the team by the scruff of the neck, Grant doesn’t seem to be the man to do so.
West Brom need to find answers sooner, rather than later, or they risk being involved in a Championship relegation fight.
In other West Brom news, Ally Robertson only wanted one thing from Saturday’s game, and he didn’t even get that.
