West Brom squad called out by ‘worried’ Nigel Quashie after Preston loss
Steve Bruce is under pressure as West Brom manager but former Baggie Nigel Quashie has aimed his outrage at another aspect of the club.
The Baggies drop into the Championship relegation zone on Wednesday evening as they were beaten 1-0 by Preston North End thanks to an early Emil Riis tap-in.
The media were quick to heap the pressure on the manager after a dreadful start to the season but Quashie was equally angry at the players who have let him down.
I didn’t like some chairmen & managers of clubs but they don’t cross the white line & play,” he said via his personal Twitter account. “Players do!
“You have to take responsibility because you represent your family, the club and most of all the supporters that are football clubs. I’m worried for West Brom.”
Complete failure
This situation isn’t something that nobody saw coming when Bruce was appointed after the downfall of Valerien Ismael but the long-term project had to be realised.
Albion have tried to solve every issue at once and miserably failed and they might not return to being a Premier League-chasing club for a while until they completely rip up the script and start from scratch.

That means the senior pros in the squad such as Jake Livermore and Kyle Bartley need to be axed altogether and a fresh outlook on things has to come in from afar.
This season though is all about survival now with the 2023-24 campaign one that needs to be used to slowly build a great team that can then go on to stardom from 2024-25 and beyond.
That takes an awfully long time to achieve though so fans should be prepared to drop their standards briefly to ensure a profitable future both on and off the pitch.
In other West Brom news, Chris Lepkowski fired shots at a number of Baggies players on Twitter, labelling certain individuals as a “rancid, horrible bunch”.
