Spotted: Steve Bruce in heated confrontation with West Brom fan after defeat v Preston

Video footage has emerged of Steve Bruce facing up to an angry West Brom fan on Wednesday night after the side’s 1-0 defeat to Preston left them in the Championship’s relegation zone.

Bruce, 61, is under enormous pressure at The Hawthorns but is still expected to be in charge of the Baggies when they play against Luton at home on Saturday [Daily Mail].

After the loss at Preston, Albion fan Andrew Beaven uploaded footage of himself getting into an argument with Bruce after it was alleged that his son and coach Alex swore at him.

Beaven wrote on his personal Twitter account: “Steve Bruce claiming that I swore at him last night, after his son gave me and my 13-year-oldold son the middle finger!

“I never swore at him, I simply told him to get out my club and his brat of a son stuck his finger up at us.”

It seems Bruce went over to the angry West Brom fan as a result of this incident and said: “What do you expect him to do when you shout [inaudible]?”

After the fan said that this is his club, Bruce said: “I totally agree with you but you’re a grown man.”

Beaven said that he wasn’t sticking his fingers up or swearing at the West Brom coaching staff because there were children around, to which Bruce said: “You were to start with.”

Not a good look

It seems the pressure is getting to Bruce.

While none of the accusations being made by either Bruce or the fan can be proven, it doesn’t look great for the club’s manager to be confronting fans like this.

If it was another member of the coaching staff who’d allegedly swore at this fan, would Bruce have confronted him?

We get that he’s standing up for his son, but his son is a former Premier League defender who’s 38 years old. Why does he need daddy to fight his fights for him?

West Brom fans are furious right now.

Bruce’s time in charge of the club has been a nightmare and it’s unbelievable that he remains in the job with the Albion sitting in the Championship’s relegation zone ahead of their clash with Luton on Saturday.

If we fail to win that, surely it’s curtains for the former Newcastle and Aston Villa manager?

We’ve said that numerous times though now.
