Guochuan Lai and Steve Bruce flags appear at The Hawthorns ahead of West Brom v Luton

West Brom fans have already placed flags asking for Guochuan Lai and Steve Bruce to leave the club at The Hawthorns ahead of the Luton game on Saturday afternoon.

Ron Gourlay was also included as a “toxic” afternoon is to be expected as the Baggies return to Championship action sat in the relegation zone.

Things boiled over at Deepdale in midweek as Bruce was confronted by angry fans outside of the team bus, although he remains in charge on Saturday.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Jonny Drury reposted some of the flags already on display as the Football Analyst predicted things to get messy.

“Flags put out early around The Hawthorns,” he wrote.

Another message alongside the images wrote: “Hawthorns and Halfords Lane this morning. Going to be a toxic day at the Albion today.”

Messy.

Today isn’t going to be a good day for those involved at West Brom, regardless of the result.

A win would only paper over the cracks, and even if that does happen, Bruce and Lai especially will not escape the backlash coming their way after a disastrous season so far.

It goes much deeper than just on the pitch though, with nearly everyone calling for a complete overhaul, starting at the board level and going down to the squad.

Things are going to be very toxic and maybe the protests that are to come and fans speaking out more will make everyone realise that change is needed.

Bruce can kid himself all that he likes, but the only reason he is likely still in charge is that Gourlay is keeping him there, with their bond clear for everyone to see.

It is starting to get embarrassing now with the club simply a laughing stock, what happened to us?

In other West Brom news, Chris Lepkowski has scolded what he brands as a “rancid, horrible bunch” that have made the Baggies dressing room toxic.
