Tim Sherwood: West Brom is ‘Toxic’ right now as Steve Bruce struggle continues

Tim Sherwood has insisted that West Brom are “toxic” right now as Steve Bruce continues to face calls to be removed from his post at The Hawthorns.

The Sky Sports pundit admitted that Nottingham Forest are the perfect example after being in a similar position last season before going on to earn promotion.

Sherwood admitted that the Baggies need to roll the dice though to secure a similar “miracle” and get out of the trouble they are currently in.

Speaking live on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday [08 October, 12:43] Sherwood picked out the perfect example that may be used down the line.

“The problem is for the decision-makers there is they look down the road at Nottingham Forest,” he said. “Similar position they were in last year with a safe pair of hands in Chris Hughton.

“Then they go and bring in Steve Cooper and they get promoted – now, that is a miracle in my eyes. They will look at that and think we can do that, but who is going to do it, you’ve got to roll the dice to do it.

“Are we going to move on with Steve bruce at the moment? He’s at nearly 900 games he’s managed, he’s almost immune to the pressure, he still feels it, he wants to win and he is intense.

“It’s toxic at the moment there at West Brom.”

West Brom

Toxic.

That is the perfect word to describe the scenes at The Hawthorns right now.

After the defeat at Preston, there were fans squaring up to Bruce outside of Deepdale, with flags already outside the ground on Saturday asking for the manager and Guochuan Lai to go.

One more defeat would certainly see the manager given his marching orders, and that could happen against Luton, but no one will expect promotion from here, forget previous examples.

Looking at our previous managers over the years, no one comes anywhere near to the style of Cooper and what he looks to do, with most of them footballing dinosaurs.

A complete overhaul is needed, but there is little chance of that happening either, with the confidence completely stripped out of not only the squad but also the fans.

We can’t believe how bad things have gotten, with them only set to get worst before they get any better with Bruce and the board still in place right now.

In other West Brom news, Chris Lepkowski has scolded what he brands as a “rancid, horrible bunch” that have made the Baggies dressing room toxic.
