West Brom have called on former player Chris Brunt to help take training on Monday after Steve Bruce was sacked by the club.

The Baggies finally pulled the trigger on Bruce on Monday morning, who has overseen just one win from the opening 13 games this season, leaving the club in the relegation zone.

And now it's been shared who will take charge of training and potentially games while the club look for a replacement, and former winger Brunt is part of a four-man unit according to Joe Chapman of the Birmingham Live.

"Chris Brunt has joined James Morrison and Gary Walsh in assisting caretaker Richard Beale with first-team training this morning," he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

The Baggies face Reading in their next fixture on Saturday at The Hawthorns, but it seems unlikely a new manager will be in place by then according to reports.

Finally

It's been a long time coming, and there were some who felt that Bruce should never have seen this season anyway after his performances as manager in the second half of the last campaign.

But he's proven them all right with some shocking results, and despite the performances not being too bad and the stats showing that he's been relatively unlucky, this is a results business.

West Brom

The decision to bring in Brunt is a sign of desperation, but also that the club know this is a temporary measure and that surely means work is underway to replace Bruce quickly.

Essentially the Reading game is being thrown out of the window at this point, because there is no chance that Beale gets the job on a full-time basis and Brunt is unlikely to return on a full-time basis either as part of the coaching staff.

At least the trigger has been pulled now though, and fans can start looking forward to potential sunrises through the clouds.
