Dean Jones names Chris Wilder as a West Brom candidate board are ‘definitely looking at’
Journalist Dean Jones has said West Brom are “quite seriously” considering Chris Wilder as a replacement for Steve Bruce at The Hawthorns.
Bruce was sacked on Monday after leaving the Baggies sat 22nd in the Championship with just one win in 13 matches.
The race is now on to find a successor to get West Brom back on track, and former Sheffield United and Middlesborough manager Wilder has emerged as a candidate.

The 55-year-old was sacked by Boro earlier this month, and his availability has lined up well with the vacancy at The Hawthorns.
Jones, speaking via GiveMeSport, insisted that West Brom are keeping a keen eye on Wilder during the appointment process.
“They are definitely looking at Chris Wilder, he’s been spoken about quite seriously,” said the former Eurosport journalist.
Rolling the dice
If West Brom fans were offered the chance to hire Wilder as their manager two years ago, many fans would’ve jumped at the opportunity.
But his recent record isn’t the greatest and will be a cause for concern. After doing a superb job with Sheffield United and leading them up to the top half of the Premier League, Wilder’s tactics came undone in Yorkshire, and he was eventually given the sack.

Middlesborough gave him the opportunity to carve out more success at the Riverside Stadium, but Wilder’s good start in the northeast of England quickly collapsed.
Like Bruce, Wilder also endured a nightmare start to the 2022/23 season, with Middlesborough sitting just one place and two points ahead of West Brom.
If Wilder comes in and performs similarly, the Baggies will be on a one-way trip to relegation. That simply cannot be allowed to happen, so there’s a huge risk factor with Wilder’s appointment.
Looking elsewhere outside of the Championship could be a better option.
