Gary Rowett set to become new West Brom manager, he wants Midlands return
Gary Rowett is “in line” to become the next West Brom manager, according to The Sun.
The newspaper reported late on Wednesday night (12 October) that Rowett, 48, is set to replace Steve Bruce at The Hawthorns after he was sacked on Monday.
It is understood that former Burton, Birmingham, Stoke and Derby manager Rowett is keen to return to the Midlands, where his family are situated, after three years at Millwall in South East London.

West Brom are yet to make an official approach for Rowett, The Sun claims, but it seems as though the Bromsgrove-born manager is the leading candidate to replace Bruce right now.
Controversial
After news emerged on Wednesday night about Rowett’s potential appointment at The Hawthorns, it’s fair to say the reaction on Twitter was mostly negative.
Rowett has done a great job in his career at Burton, Birmingham and Millwall.
However, when he’s taken the step up to club with higher expectations like Derby or Stoke, he’s struggled.
At Millwall, he’s done very well with a limited budget.

It’s something that’s bound to be on West Brom’s mind as they look for a new manager because it’s unlikely there’ll be many funds to spend in the January transfer window – and possibly even next summer – with owner Guochuan Lai in £12million debt to the club.
Lai is set to repay £5million in time for the January transfer window but this squad seems to need way more than that to undergo a successful rebuild.
Rowett isn’t the worst manager we’ve seen linked with the Albion since Bruce was hired but he certainly isn’t the best either.
In other West Brom news, Chris Lepkowski is reliably form that this manager is very interested in becoming the new Albion boss.
